The market assigns a 2.35% probability that Shanghai's highest temperature on June 29, 2026, will reach 30°C. Historical climate data suggests this is highly unlikely, given Shanghai's typical late-June temperatures and current global warming trends.
Unseasonably warm weather patterns, such as a strong subtropical ridge or heat dome, could push temperatures to 30°C. Climate change may also increase the likelihood of extreme heat events in the region.
Shanghai's late-June climate typically ranges between 24-28°C, with 30°C being rare. Persistent cloud cover, monsoon influences, or cooler-than-average ocean currents could suppress temperatures below this threshold.
