The market assigns a 1.10% probability that Hong Kong's highest temperature on June 29, 2026, will reach 35°C. Historical climate data suggests this is highly unlikely, given Hong Kong's typical late-June temperatures.
A bullish scenario could unfold if an extreme heatwave, driven by a strong subtropical ridge or unusual weather patterns, pushes temperatures to 35°C. This would require anomalous atmospheric conditions, such as prolonged high-pressure systems or Saharan air intrusions.
The bear case reflects the low likelihood of 35°C in late June, as Hong Kong's historical records show average daily maxima around 31-33°C in this period. Persistent cloud cover, monsoon influences, or tropical disturbances could suppress temperatures further.
